John Pizzarelli - Sinatra & Jobim

Frank Sinatra and bossa nova composer Antonio Carlos Jobim are among two two of greatest influences for renowned American jazz guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli. Sinatra and Jobim joined forces in 1967 and recorded "Francis Albert Sinatra & Antônio Carlos Jobim" album, which was widely hailed as a career highlight for both artists.

50 years later John Pizzarelli pays tribute to this original recording.

"Sinatra & Jobim @ 50" album was announced to be released July 28 on Concord Jazz label.
Pizzarelli's new project pays tribute to original Sinatra & Jobim's release, with two original songs, an ode to Jobim by Michael Frank and versions of tracks recorded by Frank and Antonio at a 1969 session. Pizzarelli's vocal partner is Jobim's grandson, Daniel Jobim.

"We did the tracks in two days with Daniel recording his parts in his grandfather’s studio in Brazil. The hardest one was ‘Two Kites.’ My father, Bucky, is on that record by Jobim – 1980’s Terra Brasilis – so I thought we had to do that.”
