Bossa nova and samba are styles of Brazilian music popularized worldwide in the 1950s and 1960s mainly because of such composers as Antonio Carlos Jobim and João Gilberto. Especially both styles came into international attention after 1959 movie "Black Orpheus", with music by Luiz Bonfá, Brazilian composer and excellent guitarist. Soon it was popularized by such great musicians as Charlie Byrd, Stan Getz, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra. Brazilian guitarist Laurindo Almeida became a member of famous Modern Jazz Quartet. Another guitarist Baden Powell, merged in his music fusion of jazz harmonies and classical guitar technique, with Brazilian rhythms. Most popular bossa and samba compositor and perfrmer was Antonio Carlos Jobim. His songs are most often covered up today.
