The Honors Gala will be recorded for broadcast and aired on Sunday, December 29th at 9:00pm
2013 Honorees will be saluted by great performers from New York, Hollywood, and the arts capitals of the world.

The President of the United States and Mrs. Obama will receive the Honorees and members of the Artists Committee who nominate them, along with the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees at the White House prior to the gala performance.

There's no doubt that Carlos Santana deserves this Honors Award as much as not many artists around. Since his appearance at the original Woodstock festival in 1969 and at Woodstock II in 1994 over a span of more than 50 years, he has created an impressive body of music, from the initial album, "Santana by Santana", to the more recent collaborations with artists like Rob Thomas (Smooth) and Wyclef Jean (Maria Maria).
