John Scofield has been a major figure in the jazz guitar world since the 1970s. In 1973 he graduated from Berklee College of Music and played jazz locally. Cooperation with Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker led him to Carnegie Hall. In next years Scofield was a member of the Billy Cobham-George Duke, recorded with Charles Mingus and joined Gary Burton Quartet. Between 1982 and 1985, Scofield toured the world and recorded with Miles Davis. Soon he began an international career, leading his own groups and collaborating with such names as Pat Metheny, Charlie Haden, Jack DeJohnette, Joe Lovano and Eddie Harris. In the recent years Scofield mix jazz with more funk-oriented compositions and is still active, touring the world more than 200 days per year.
