One of the things that bothered Dave's career was drugs and alcohol. And that was also th reason he left Metallica in 1983.
In 1983 Dave Mustaine formed another heavy metal band Megadeth with bass player Dave Ellefson, Kerry King on guitar and Gar Samuelson on drums.
By 1995, Mustaine was growing bored with Megadeth and his bandmates, so he formed MD.45, with Lee Ving of Fear on vocals and Jimmy Degrasso of Alice Cooper on drums. The album, The Craving was released July 23, 1996 and failed to find any audience, in part because the band did not tour to support the album. As a result, the project never proceeded after the debut release.
In the summer of 2005, Mustaine launched a travelling North American metal festival. It spanned six weeks and was co-headlined by Megadeth and Dream Theater, with a variety of other supporting metal acts such as Nevermore. The second Gigantour began in September of 2006 and was composed of Megadeth, Lamb Of God, Opeth and Arch Enemy.
