It's been over 3 years since J.J. Cale, passed away on July 26, 2013. J.J. was one of the most unaffected artists in music business that America ever produced. He was exactly the same person as you can watch in videos. No artifice, no pretence; just a man who enjoyed life and happened to also like making music. He used to say that as long as the checks kept coming, that was good enough for him.
JJ Cale was big influence on many guitar players, but in particular Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton. In his 2007 autobiography, Clapton called him “one of the most important artists in the history of rock, quietly representing the greatest asset his country has ever had”. In 2006 Clapton and J.J. Cale made album The Road to Escondido, which went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2008.
On March 15, 2007 J.J. appeared at the concert during the "Doyle & Derek World Tour" that Clapton heldt with Doyle Bramhall II and Derek Trucks from 2006 to 2007 leading up to the Crossroads Guitar Festival 2007. The album with concert recording was announced on August 5, 2016 via Clapton's official website. Pre-order sales started same day. Reprise has released the video of "Anyway The Wind Blows" with J.J Cale, special guest.

The Wind Blows is not my fav, also performed in video doesn't sound great, but this doesn't change fact that JJ was my hero for many years and I will miss his new recordings.

Cool. Pity there's not much videos with JJ Cale. Eachis like a treasure now when he's gone.
