Biréli Lagrene is usually associated as a gypsy jazz guitarist, heavily inspired by Django Reinhardt.
This is true that Bireli was discovered at very young age as Django style guitarist, but later, especially when he left France for US, he also played a lot of jazz with such musicians as Benny Goodman, Benny Carter, Larry Coryell, Jaco Pastorius and Al DI Meola.

This year Bireli performed at Jazz in Marciac festival, August 3, 2012, playing electric guitar.

what I like the most from Birelli is his attitude: playing like being somewhere else, or as not very satisfied with what came out of his mind or from his fingers...watch his face...
