Watch one of very few good quality videos recorded live in Monterey, 1967. The song performed by Jimi is "Killing Floor". Originally it was written by legendary blues singer-songwriter and guitarist Howlin' Wolf and became classic of Chicago electric blues. According to Wikipedia the song’s title refers to the active area of a slaughterhouse. But Howlin' Wolf lead guitarist Hubert Sumlin reported something quite different.
He mentioned about Wolf's seven wives, and one named Helen, who shot him with a double barrel shotgun with buckshot. Out the second floor window.
And this is woman and story that Wolf wrote "Killing Floor" about.

The more detailed story of "Killing Floor" song you can find on https://www.huffpost.com/entry/h ...

Hendrix reached that genius triangle of spirit, the universe, a guitar and Hendrix becomes one.

I often wonder what it was like to have been one of the 1st Americans to see and hear that for the 1st time. The Brits were already "Experienced." There is so much technical brilliance, mastery of sound and of the guitar. It can get lost in the theatrics of his stage act. Still amazed, there's still so much to appreciate about this stellar performance 40 years later!
