This was 1993 when American rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota recorded "Runaway Train" song. The album "Grave Dancers Union" with the song reached number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 and climbed to the top position on the Canadian Top Singles chart. "Runaway Train" won Grammy Award for Best Rock Song in 1994.

In the music video, directed by Tony Kaye pictures of missing children appear on the screen. After each picture was shown, their full name appear in large capital letters on the screen, along with the year they had been "missing since...".
There were three original versions of the video in the United States, totaling 36 missing children shown. According to Kaye, 26 missing children were found after being featured in the video. Some of the cases had ended in tragedy.

Many of children shown in the Australian version of the clip were confirmed victims of serial killer Ivan Milat, who was arrested in 1994 not long after the Australian film clip was released.
