I watched the Notre-Dame Cathedral burn on the news so I went to my studio and composed this piece “Notre-Dame Burning“. After 5 hours I was finished but the cathedral was still burning... it was hard to watch.
I visited Notre-Dame in 2008 after a concert in Ceret and was struck by it’s beauty, size and history.

I admired Notre-Dame in 2011. It was a day before July 14th. Next evening, on Bastille Day I also went to a concert. It was chamber orchestra playing some popular Baroque music at Sainte-Chapelle. Still remember repertoire. Albinoni's Adagio, Vivaldi's Summer, Bach's Air on G, Handel's Sarabande. A very special evening, not to forget.
Same like thousands of people around the world I've been watching horrible images of Notre-Dame on fire for few hours. I am not religious, but for me Notre-Dame was always an icon, a building, a structure that is a symbol of Paris and I was shocked to see it burning.
Well, I won't compose anything, won't even play. Sadly I'm not so gifted as Mr Kindgren is.
But I believe that Notre-Dame will rise again and me or my kids will visit it again one day.

Hi,
Thank you for your comment and for listening to me.
It must have been a wonderful concert in Notre-Dame! I "only" visited as a tourist walking in awe through the building and under the ceiling. I am happy the organ survived and that it will be re-built.
I know it is only a building and so many humans are suffering all over the world every day but I cannot compose music for those but try to make this world a better place with my music. Love will survive!

My concert was at the Sainte-Chapelle, a royal chapel in the Gothic style, within the medieval Palais de la Cité, famous of stained glass collections.
There are concerts at Sainte-Chapelle almost every day in the evening from early spring to late autumn provided by Euromusic Productions. Our concert was very special because of Bastille Day. When we arrived Paris for 7 days I didn't realize that we have Bastille Day in the middle of our stay. I didn't know about concerts at Sainte-Chapelle, bought tickets by accident on the street 3 days before. It was not expensive. This was a week full of suprises. Our apartment was located in front of Élysée Palace, the official residence of the President (Sarkozy at the time). On Bastille Day in the morning first we walk to watch the great parade. When we came back to our apartment we've been watching the rest on TV and saw that President Sarkozy is driving slow into our direction and his Palace. So we went outside to see him close. It was just 20 metres of walk. Mr Sarkozy stopped for a moment, got out of his car to salute people and my friend was one of those who shook his hand. He was completely shocked. He's such a big enthusiast of Napoleon and France. I did not. I was focused on President's wife smiley Later in the evening we went to this very special concert. After years we still remember every moment of our stay in Paris.
