Great duo, Pat Metheny (guitar) and unforgattable Charlie Haden (bass) performing "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress" at at Wackerhalle during the 34th Internationale Jazzwoche Festival in Burghausen, Germany May 8, 2003.
Pat Metheny is not recording much lately, not touring, appears rarely at some jazz festivals. One of the greatest bass players in jazz history Charlie Haden passed away over 3 years ago in July 2014.
We can only regret such brilliant musicians are either less active or leave us forever.
Written by American songwriter Jimmy Webb "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress" song's title was taken from the 1966 science fiction novel The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein. The song first time was performed by Glen Campbell on his farewell tour, then soon later recorded by Judy Collins and Joe Cocker. It was also recorded by Pat Metheny and Charlie haden on the album Beyond the Missouri Sky (Short Stories), in 1997 which won a Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album
