Two years ago late Thursday, May 14 undisputed King of the Blues, Riley B. King, better known as B.B King died at his home in Las Vegas after long battle with diabetes. The iconic blues musician who inspired a generation of guitarists and singers, spread joy to millions by giving them the blues for more than six decades along with his ever-present guitar Lucille.
In his long career B.B. King won 15 Grammy Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 1987. Among other honors and awards those most important are: inductions into the Rock and Roll and Blues Foundation halls of fame; a Kennedy Center Honor; Presidential Medal of the Arts; President Medal of Freedom; the international Polar Music Prize; and honorary doctorates from Yale and Brown.
People loved B.B. King and B.B King loved his audience. He told Rolling Stone magazine: "The crowds treat me like my last name. When I go onstage people usually stand up, I never ask them to, but they do. They stand up and they don't know how much I appreciate it."
