Corcovado is a bossa nova song written by Antônio Carlos Jobim in 1960. With lurics written later by Gene Lees it is also known under title "Quiet Nights, Quiet Stars". The song refers to a 710-metre (2,329 ft) granite peak in central Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, ehich is known worldwide for the 38-metre (125 ft) statue of Jesus atop its peak, entitled Cristo Redentor. Corcovado is one of the most famous bossa nova song, also one of most often covered and performed by artists of different genre. It became jazz standard, often performed on jazz solo guitar, just as Joe Washington does in video.
