I did a lot of research on Fado, a music genre characteristic for Portugal since 1920 about.
It's all because soon I leave for vacation to Portugal. I was simply curious if there is any guitar music popular out there in Lisbon or other Portugal city.
And so I found that this music is not strictly related to guitar instrument as we usually think about. Portuguese guitar differs a lot of standard guitar, sounds also differently. It's twelve steel strings instrument, strung in six courses comprising two strings each. Portuguese guitar descended from the Renaissance European cittern. Presently, two models of such guitar are built: the Lisboa model and the Coimbra model.
They differ in the scale length, body measurements, and few other construction details.
