Regarding youtube profile layout we have exactly same feeling like you. It's not new, was available to use from some weeks, but now it's obligatory.
You can't do a lot with it, far less than you could do before. It looks sharp but indeed it's very poor if you wish to find or post some useful info about channel. Very disappointing.
