Singer, guitarist & songwriter J.J. Cale is one of most enigmatic musician that inspired number of other great artists. Cale`s personal style has often been described as "laid back". His songs have been covered by artists ranging from Johnny Cash to Captain Beefheart. But his trademark sinuous, bluesy guitar lines and near-whispered vocals have been popularized by Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton. "After Midnight" and "Cocaine" covered by Eric Clapton became top chart hits.

After years of admiring each other's musical masterworks, J.J. Cale and Eric Clapton teamed up to create an original album together called "The Road To Escondido" which also earned Cale's first Grammy Award. It was the first time that Clapton had recorded with the man he has admired for so many years.
