As a guitarist and vocalist he cross easily between straight-ahead jazz, smooth jazz, and contemporary R&B.His His 1976' album Breezin' was certified triple-platinum and the title song is still one of most often covered smooth jazz piece.
Other song from the same album "This Masquerade" (Grammy awarded) is almost same popular and "Affirmation" composed by Jose Feliciano is better know as Benson's version. Next Benson's songs like "On Broadway" (Grammy), "The Ghetto" are same popular to cover by aspiring jazz guitarists from years.
