Lawson Rollins
Born in 1979, San Francisco-based Lawson Rollins after studying piano and violin, he took up the drums at age 8, but it was at age 15 when he heard Andres Segovia and switched his full attention to the guitar.
In 1998 he met Dan Young in a flamenco guitar shop in Washington, D.C and began collaborating with him on music that drew heavily on flamenco traditions but also salsa, blues, Latin jazz, classical, and reggae. They began playing in public just a few months later.
They released several albums together, including Salsa Flamenca, which landed on the Billboard Chart in 2000, Sevilla (2001), Esperanza (2005) and Mosaic (2006) and played at many major venues such as the Kennedy Center and Sydney Opera House.
Fast fingered “Fire Cadenza” played by Lawson has already received over 2 ½ million YouTube views.
