Formed in Dublin in October 1976, U2 has been one of the most popular rock bands in the world since the 1980s. The band consists of Bono, lead singer and songwriter; The Edge, lead guitar, keyboards, vocals; Adam Clayton, bass guitar; Larry Mullen Jr., drums. The group's album "The Joshua Tree" (1987) with topping charts song "With or Without You" was their greatest critical and commercial success. U2 take prominent stands on human rights issue and were major participants in the historic "Live Aid" concert of 1985. U2 sold an estimated 150–170 million records worldwide. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. They won 22 Grammy awards, more than any other band.
