Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, known as Sting became to fame as a songwriter, lead singer, and bassist for the rock band the Police from 1977 to 1984. In 1985 Sting launched extremely successful solo career. Everybody knows Sting's songs, no need to mention it. He's the most played song in radio history. Sting is also one of the world's best-selling music artists. With the Police and solo and combined, he has sold over 100 million records. He won 17 Grammy Awards, received an Order of the British Empire from Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace for services to music, was made a Kennedy Center Honoree at the White House in 2014. As a member of the Police Sting was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.
