Artist info
Stevie Ray Vaughan was only 35 when he died in a helicopter crash, August 27, 1990. Despite his 1990 death he's still inspiring multiple generations of guitarists. SRV had absorbed the styles of just about every great blues guitarist – plus Jimi Hendrix and a lot of jazz and rockabilly. Inspired by his older brother Jimmie, Stevie quickly joined him and Double Trouble band. He caught the attention of Mick Jagger and David Bowie. Soon he recorded "Texas Flood" album with Double Trouble and gained fame after his performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1982.Next year readers of Guitar Player voted him Best New Talent and Best Electric Blues Guitar Player. Stevie Ray Vaughan won six Grammy Awards and ten Austin Music Awards. In 2000 he was posthumously inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, and in 2015 with Double Trouble into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
