The Police was a British rock band from London, formed in 1977 and became popular around the world in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. The band consisted of Sting as the lead vocals, bass guitar, and primary songwriter, Andy Summers on guitar, and Steward Copeland on drums and percussion. Their last album, Synchronicity (1983) is widely regarded as a rock classic. "Every Breath You Take" single became one of the biggest American hits of all time; it spent four weeks at the top of the U.K. charts. The Police won a number of music awards, including six Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards. In 2003 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
