Founded in 1994 by Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl after the suicide of Kurt Cobain, Foo Fighters steadily racked up success after success. Dave Grohl, who had been playing guitar and writing songs long before he began drumming. After Cobain's detah, in 1994 Grohl and his friend Barrett Jones went to professional studio and recorded 15 songs that comprised Foo Fighters' debut album. In 2011 Foo Fighters' "Wasting Light" album became their first number one album in America. Four of Foo Fighters albums have won Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album. They also received a Grammy Award for their music video for "Learn to Fly" in 2000
