For his seventh birthday he got a classical guitar from his parents and soon this changed his life forever. When Per-Olov was 14, his family moved to Helsingør in Denmark, a small town close to Swedish border he could attend a Swedish high school in Helsingborg, where he met his first classical guitar teacher Torvald Nilsson.
From 1976 for next 7 years Per-Olov studied at the Danish Royal Academy of Music with professor Per-Olof Johnson and graduated with a final diploma in 1983.
He became a music teacher, teaching at both music schools in Vallensbæk and Gentofte for 24 years.
In the meantime, in 1981 he started a classical guitarquartet i Malmö, Sweden called “Fyra Gitarrer” [Four Guitars] that later, in 1987 became “Nordic Guitarquartet”. The quartet recorded a CD in 1991 which became one of the most sold classical guitar CD’s in Denmark at that time. As Kindgren stated on his website quartet members never received any money from CD sales and today it's hard to say who has the rights for this '92 distribution.
As main influence Kindgren mention English classical guitarist and lutenist Julian Bream. He also mention Glenn Gould, David Russell, Astor Piazzolla and Django Reinhardt, who have also inspired him throughout his life.
Mr. Kindgren composes and arranges not only works for guitar but for other instruments as well. His soft and melodic and often melancholic pieces, are now being played all over the world and even used as music for independent films.
Currently Per-Olov Kindgren is widening his concerts activities.
Mr Kindgren plays classical guitar built by luthier Per Hallgren (#202, 2011). He also use 7-string classical guitar built by John & Judy Robertson. InMarch 2013 Per-Olov received a new guitar by luthier Benham Shirazi from Copenhagen (currently for sale).
Since 2014 Kindgren plays a spruce top guitar by Danish luthier Thomas Holt.

@picksalot
Beautiful tone, lyrical, musical, very good control over each voice in the music.
Kindgren makes it sound like it was written for guitar.
I think Bach would have been pleased.
