Freddie King, born Billy Myles, September 3 , 1934, in Gilmer, Texas was one of the triumvirate of Kings (the others being B.B. and Albert) who ruled the blues throughout the 60s.
He perfected his own guitar style based on Texas and Chicago influences and was one of the first artists to have a multi-racial backing band on stage with him at live performances.
Freddie King has always been an inspiration as an improviser to fellow guitarists like Eric Clapton. Freddie never played it the same way twice!

In 1993, in memory of Freddie and his phenomenal impact on musicians across the world, Texan governor Ann Richards declared September 3rd as “Freddie King Day”.

In 2012 Freddie King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
