David Russell is one of most world renowned classical guitarists.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, UK he spent most of his childhood on Minorca island, one of the Balearic Islands located in the Mediterranean Sea belonging to Spain, where his parents moved when David was 5.
His first guitar teacher was his father, guitar enthusiast who collected old recordings of great master Andres Segovia. At the age of 16 David moved back to London where he started to study at the Royal Academy. During his studies he won Julian Bream Guitar Prize twice and later won such prestigous competitions as the Andrés Segovia Competition, the José Ramírez Competition, and Spain's Francisco Tárrega Competition.
In 2004, David Russell won a Grammy Award for best instrumental soloist in classical music.
Today, Russell acclaimed as one of the greatest classical guitarists of our times, resides in Galicia, but spends most of his time touring, appearing in such cities as New York, London, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Madrid, Toronto and Amsterdam.
