Three times nominated for the Latin Grammy, classical guitarist from Paraguay, Berta Rojas celebrates the life and joy of Brazilian music in her new album "Felicidade", for which she invited outstanding Brazilian artists such as Toquinho, Gilberto Gil and Iván Lins.
Available from April 20, 2017 in digital format, "Felicidade" was released by Onmusic Recordings and features Berta Rojas on classical guitar accompanied by the National Symphonic Orchestra from Paraguay with special guests appearance as mentioned above.
Continuing her travel throughout Latin America musically, this time Berta traveled to Rio de Janeiro to meet the Brazilian singer-songwriter, Gilberto Gil to record "Mis noches sin ti" and "Homage to Baden Powell". Next step was to meet bossa nova guitarist Toquinho and record "Odeón", "Berimbau", "Choro Típico" and the Guapina "Mementos de Ypacarai", by Demetrio Ortiz. Toquinho played a guitar that belonged to Baden Powell, ne of the legends of the Brazilian guitar.
"I wanted the album to show different facets of Brazilian music," Berta Rojas aid. "We wanted through this album to pay tribute to the many different styles that are present in Brazilian music."
It looks like Berta feels fine and recovered fully from breast cancer she was diagnosed in 2015. As part of her recovery she recognized the role of music, especially Brazilian music. "It's a therapy for the heart," Berta said. "It is truly an opportunity to heal many wounds."
