Legendary American bluesman Hubert Sumlin passed away on Sunday in a hospital in Wayne, New Jersey, of heart failure.
In 1949 at the age of eighteen Sumlin became Howlinʹ Wolfʹs lead guitarist, a position he held down for the next twenty five years, except for a brief six-month stint in Muddy Watersʹ band.
In the past few years Hubert has shared the stage with The Rolling Stones, Elvis Costello, Aerosmith, Santana, The Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton and Derek Trucks Band.
Sumlin was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1988.
