Autumn Leaves written by Hungarian-French composer Joseph Kosma with lyrics by French poet Jacques Prévert was first introduced by Yves Montand under French title "Les feuilles mortes" (Dead leaves) in the 1946 film "Les Portes de la nuit."
In 1947 American songwriter Johnny Mercer wrote English lyrics changing the title to "Autumn Leaves". Initially the public showed little interest in “Autumn Leaves.” This changed in 1955 when pianist Roger Williams recorded a million-seller, and "Autumn Leaves" stayed on the charts for 6 months. Soon many notable artists covered the songs, including Steve Allen, Mitch Miller, the Ray Charles Singers, Jackie Gleason, and Victor Young, and the song became a pop and a jazz standard followed by thousands of renditions in subsequent decades.
In 1956 Columbia Pictures produced a film entitled Autumn Leaves starring Joan Crawford and Cliff Robertson. Nat King Cole sang hit version of “Autumn Leaves” during the film credits.
In video this is accomplished solo jazz guitarist Walter Rodrigues Jr playing his own very personal arrangement of "Autumn leaves"
