Famous cycle of 24 preludes for guitar composed by Mexican composer Manuel María Ponce Cuéllar (1882 – 1948). The original plan was that Segovia and Ponce were going to co-author a Guitar Method. Ponce wrote 24 Preludes, in each major or minor key signature. The project never really got off the ground. Segovia felt that several of the preludes were too difficult for the audience of beginners. He transposed several of them into more fingerboard-friendly keys and recorded six of the Preludes for Decca in 1952. Laurindo Almeida recorded the other six for Capitol Records in around 1960. John Williams did all 12 for the Westminster label. Finally in 1980, Miguel Alcazar published a book of all 24 Preludes.
