"Tristorosa" written by by Heitor Villa-Lobos is one of the earliest compositions and the style of the waltz is typical of those of the period.
Villa-Lobos wrote it in 1910 when he was only 23 years old, before he married the pianist Lucília Guimarães. The piece was published under the name of Epaminondas Villaba Filho. This pseudonym had been previously used by his father, Raúl, a writer and amateur cellist, guitarist and clarinettist.
In video "Tristorosa" is performed by Tatyana Ryzhkova, Byelorussian classical guitarist on her custom built guitar by Michel Brück.
