El Mestre is one of most popular compositions by Spanish guitarist and composer Miguel Llobet (1878 – 1938) born in Barcelona. El Mestre is a Catalonian folk song adopted for guitar by Llobet.
Llobet's first teacher was Francisco Tárrega, with whom he was studying at Municipal Conservatory of Music in Barcelona.
El Mestre is no doubt best known and most often played work from Diez Canciones Populares Catalanas (Ten Catalonian Folk Songs) arranged by Llobet. It was written in 1910.
