His first influences were his older brothers, Serge (percussion) and Gérard (accordion). Luc mention jazz musicians such as Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett and John McLaughlin as his influences, but also the folk music forms he heard in the Basque region.
In the early 80's, when he is 15, he started his first group “Bulle Quintet” and in 1982 he got an award at the Festival International de San Sebastian. In 1988, Luc went north to Paris where he encountered musicians such as Richard Galliano and Francis Lassus. He next joined a band of trumpeter Eric le Lann and quickly gained a solid reputation as an accompanist, working with singers such as Catherine Lara, Georges Moustaki and Dee Dee Bridgewater. He accompanied Al Jarreau for the TV-programmes together with Steve Gadd, Neil Larsen, Dominique Bertram.
Since the beginning of 1998 he has been increasing the number of his solo concerts in France and abroad. He performed together with Bireli Lagrene, John Mc Laughlin, Vincete Amigo at the MIDEM de CANNES in 1999.
Invited by Bireli Lagrene to the Festival de Marciac, he has a remarkable performance together with Elvins Jones.
