At the age of 14 because he spent hours listening to the Aerosmith's "Rocks" record while completely ignoring everythimg around including his lady companion.
Soon Slash formed his first band “Road Crew” with Steven Adler a friend he met when he was 13. After Road Crew disbanded, for a short period Slash joined for a short period Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin in their band Hollywood Rose. After some time, Izzy joined Axl in L.A Guns, and Axl changed the band's name to Guns N’ Roses. Axl approached Slash to join them in writing some songs and to consider the possibility of playing gigs together. Then Slash called Steven Adler to join them as their new drummer and from the moment the legendary Guns N’ Roses was born.
In the mid-‘90s Slash started with a side project called Slash’s Snakepit. The band released two albums which weren’t huge hits, but they demonstrate Slash’s preference for classic arena rock.
Slash’s next project was Velvet Revolver, a group that included GNR bandmates McKagan and Sorum, Wasted Youth guitarist Dave Kushner, and singer Scott Weiland. The band produced well-received two old-school hard rock records.
While Velvet Revolver auditioned new singers, Slash went to work on a solo album, recruiting different vocalists for separate tracks. In 2010 Slash hit stores with album featuring Fergie, Chris Cornell, Ozzy Osbourne, and many others.
