Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1962, Grammy Award-winning American classical guitarist, Scott Tennant is best known
as a founding member of Los Angeles Guitar Quartet (LAGQ).
He was studying music at the University of Southern California (1980-1986).
As a student he won ilver medal in the Toronto International Guitar Competition in 1984.
Later in 1988 he won IInd pize at the Paris Radio France Competition and gold medal at the Tokyo International Competition in 1989.
Scott recorded for numerous labels as a soloist on the GHA and Delos labels,
and with the LAGQ for GHA, Delos, Sony Classical, Windham Hill, Deutsche Grammophon and Telarc.
For Telarc "LAGQ Latin" album he was nominated for a Grammy.
For LAGQ’s Guitar Heroes” album he won a Grammy as the best classical recording of 2005.
Scott Tennant is also widely known as journalist, teacher and as an author of instructional books.
He has written articles for Soundboard Magazine, Acoustic Guitar Magazine, and Gendai Guitar Magazine,
taught guitar at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and USC Thornton School of Music.
He's an author of popular "Pumping Nylon" series of instructional books and DVD.
