Nathan East (born December 8, 1955, in Philadelphia) is considered a true bass legend. He has played played along with other great jazz bassists Ray Brown, Ron Carter, Charles Mingus, Buster Williams and Scott LaFaro. He's also a member of Fourplay smooth jazz quartet, and is well known as bassist of Eric Clapton, Joe Satriani, Phil Collins, Stevie Wonder, Toto and Herbie Hancock.

East holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of California, San Diego.
He won the most valuable player award in the bass category at the International Rock Awards.
East developed his own Yamaha Signature Series bass guitar that is available in musical instrument stores.
