Kurt Rosenwinkel (born October 28, 1970) is one of the most strikingly original new voices in jazz as both guitarist and composer. He attended the Berklee School of Music but left it after 2 years to tour with Gary Burton. Soon he moved to Brooklyn where he continued to develop his jazz guitar skills by performing with Human Feel, Paul Motian's Band and Joe Henderson Group.
Over the following eight years he was featured on 12 albums, with Burton, Paul Motian, Mark Turner, Seamus Blake, and others. He also won a Composer's Award from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1995. In 1998 he released a solo album on Criss Cross Records.
Kurt Rosenwinkel currently resides with his family in Berlin, Germany serving as professor of jazz guitar at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler.
