Juan Serrano
Juan Serrano (born in Córdoba, Spain, 1935) started to study guitar at the age 9 with his father, Antonio del Lunar, a professional guitarist. Soon he made his professional debut at age 13. He performed and recorded with the top flamenco musical, dance, and theatrical companies. At this time Serrano also started his solo career.

After first visit to US he was asked to perform numerous solo flamenco guitar concerts and more TV appearances, then a recording contract with Elektra Records, who released his US debut album "Ole, la mano!" in 1962.
in the 1960s along with others such as Sabicas, Mario Escudero and Carlos Montoya popularised Flamenco guitar, first in the USA and then the rest of the World.

Serrano is the only flamenco guitarist in the world with a doctorate in humane letters and a tenured faculty position at a major university. He developed the guitar program at California State University and heads the guitar department.
