Duo Assad is Brazilian duo of classical guitarist, brothers Sérgio and Odair Assad. Born into a musical family in Mococa, São Paulo, Brazil, brothers Assad learned Brazilian folk melodies from his father.
The Assads have played a major role in creating and introducing new music for two guitars. Their virtuosity has inspired a wide range of composers to write for them including Astor Piazzolla, Nikita Koshkin, Roland Dyens, Jorge Morel and Francisco Mignone.
Older brother, Sérgio has composed more than fifty works for guitar, many of which have become standards in the guitar repertoire.
Now Sérgio is composing music for the duo and for various musical partners both with Symphony Orchestra and in recitals.
Together with his younger brother they have created a new standard of guitar innovation and expression by merging their exceptional artistry with Brazilian musical tradition and sounds they have learned studying with the best guitarists in South America.
