Berta Rojas

The title of the album from Berta Rojas borrows its name from a Cuban sultry dance.
Latin America is one of the most musically diverse regions of the world. And so Berta Rojas takes us for a musical journey through this colorful world full of exotic sounds and rhythms.

This is what Berta Rojas said about her new release: "Salsa Roja radiates energy, passion, color, nostalgia and joy; making music the path to the cultural treasures that can only be found in a place as storied and exotic as Latin America."
The album is partitioned into sections according to the composers: Edin Solis, Vincent Lindsey-Clark, Julio Cesar Oliva and Quique Sinesi (final track).

The opening piece entitled “Tambito Josefino”, written by Edin Solis is based on most popular rhythms of Costa Rica performed by Berta accompanied by The Recycled Instruments Orchestra of Cateura conducted by Solis himself.
12 year-old girl Noelia plays 2nd guitar to Berta’s 1st guitar. When Berta first met Noelia, she was playing a guitar made from metal marmalade cans. Two days later Berta gave her Yamaha guitar from her own collection.
“Salsa Roja” album is a celebration of life and love above poverty, loneliness and sorrow, played with outstanding technique and virtuosity.
