Robert Cray listened to soul and rock before becoming immersed in the blues after hearing Albert Collins, who played at Cray's high school graduation and followed Freddie King's and Muddy Waters live concerts. In 1974 he formed his first band with bassist Richard Cousins. Cray had the opportunity to play alongside such legends as John Lee Hooker, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy Albert Collins and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He appeared at the Crossroads Guitar Festival. Robert Cray won five Grammy Awards and in 2011 was inducted to the Blues Hall of Fame.
