The successful British band Dire Straits' frontman, who now turned 70 in 2019 quietly dissolved successful Dire Straits in 1995 and found more pleasure in his solo career. He has released nine solo albums. He also produced film scores for nine films,including Local Hero, Cal, Princess Bride and The Last Exit To Brooklyn. In 2005 he began working on material with singer Emmylou Harris, and released collaborative album, All the Roadrunning in 2006. Knoplfler is often cited as "the most lyrical of all rock guitarists." Knopfler always stayed away from excesses and scandals. However, when Dire Straits was inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018, Knopfler refused to perform or even attend the ceremony.
